Simona Doyle’s digital works begin with an extensive archive of photographs gathered during regular journeys to remote places. Through the controlled layering of imagery, light and restrained colour, she transforms these fragments into complex compositions that sit somewhere between photography and abstraction.

Repetition, pattern and shifting textures give the work its distinctive rhythm, revealing new details the longer it is viewed. Created to hold presence at scale, each piece feels immersive and open to interpretation — familiar elements appear, dissolve and re-emerge within the surface. This work brings together fragmented natural imagery, animal markings and layered colour to create a composition that feels both familiar and abstract. Repeated patterns move across the surface, broken by deeper areas of black, earthy tones and flashes of blue. The original imagery is deliberately obscured, encouraging the eye to move slowly through the work and discover new forms within it.
