With its thick, roughly worked seat, braced frame and slightly splayed legs, The Hewn Stool has the grounded character of a traditional utility piece.

Visible grain, knots and irregular surface markings give the wood its individual character, while its compact size makes it useful in any room in a home. Ideal as a seat, a small bedside table, a plant stand or an occasional table beside a sofa. 

Its rougher texture looks particularly good beside upholstery, linen and smoother finishes, where it brings contrast and a little weight to the arrangement.
