Hand-carved in India from solid wood, these beautiful old vessels were once part of everyday household life. Similar pieces were traditionally used for storing milk and other provisions, long before they became objects to be appreciated purely for their form.
Each one is slightly different, with an irregular shape, a generous flared opening and a wonderfully aged surface that carries the marks of its making and years of use.
Surprisingly light for their size, I think these are particularly lovely left empty, where their sculptural shape can be appreciated, either on their own or alongside books, ceramics and other collected objects.
Please note: As each vessel has been individually carved, sizes and proportions will vary slightly. Differences in colour, texture and finish, along with signs of age and wear, are all part of their individual character.
